About the Journal
FOCUS AND OBJECTIVE
The Revista Interdisciplinar e do Meio Ambiente (RIMA) is a free online journal published by the Associação Técnica Científica Caroá (ATEC) and the Grupo de Pesquisa Gestão Ambiental no Semiárido (GAS) of the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande (UFCG). Its aim is to publish scientific articles that contribute to the following areas: Interdisciplinary; Environmental Sciences; Engineering I; Social and Applied Sciences; Collective Health. RIMA is published on an annual rolling basis and is open to contributions from researchers at other national and international institutions. It welcomes articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
PERIODICITY
The Revista Interdisciplinar e do Meio Ambiente (RIMA) is published in continuous flow format, once a year. For example: for the year 2023, we will have Volume 5 and Series number 1 - (Continuous Flow) v.5 n.1 (2023); for the year 2024, we will have Volume 6 and Series number 1 - (Continuous Flow) v.6 n.1 (2023); and it may also have a special edition.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The process of evaluating scientific articles will only begin once the guidelines for authors available in the Submissions menu have been taken into account. In this process, the editor-in-chief and section editors may intervene, requesting possible modifications until the desired quality is achieved. The papers submitted will be evaluated by at least 2 external Ad-hoc reviewers (Double Blind Review), appointed by the editor-in-chief in the related area of knowledge. If there is a conflict of interest or a conflicting opinion, the article will be sent to a third external reviewer and the editor-in-chief will make the final decision to accept in full, accept with adjustments or reject.
ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY
The Revista Interdisciplinar e do Meio Ambiente (RIMA) uses free plagiarism detection programs CopySpider freeware or ithenticate. If submitted scientific papers show more than 3% evidence of plagiarism or self-plagiarism, they will be immediately rejected and archived. All submitted articles are compiled in an anti-plagiarism program before being forwarded to external reviewers.
SELF-ARCHIVING POLICY
RIMA uses a personal or institutional repository and scientific papers are deposited upon publication according to the edition.
FREE AND OPEN ACCESS POLICY
We do not currently charge submission and publication fees and we value the democratization of knowledge by offering immediate free access to the content made available in published editions.
COPYRIGHT AND LICENSE POLICY
If text by any author or third party is republished in this journal, they will be notified by e-mail and a bad precedence notice will be published citing the date of publication and edition. Regarding the license, RIMA uses Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0).
GOOD PUBLISHING PRACTICES AND ETHICS POLICY
The Revista Interdisciplinar e do Meio Ambiente (RIMA) guarantees authors, reviewers and editors high ethical standards until the scientific work is published. The reference used for scientific refereeing is the Code of Conduct and Standards of Good Practice for Journal Editors of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Editors, the Scientific Committee (ad hoc) and Authors must agree to the following principles:
Team of Editors:
1) Evaluate the scientific papers submitted and reject those that do not comply with RIMA's continuous flow and editorial standards, taking as references the journal's thematic areas of knowledge, the authors' guidelines for publication and legal aspects such as copyright violations and plagiarism;
2) Inform Guest Editors, Authors and Reviewers in detail about the editorial and peer review process;
3) Always act in an isonomic and impartial manner under any kind of discrimination or beliefs of the authors;
4) An evaluation form is sent to ensure an anonymous, fair and impartial double blind peer review process, guaranteeing the anonymity of the information;
5) The identities of the reviewers involved in the refereeing process are protected, organized by section and kept up to date. Regarding the selection of the reviewer, it is carried out according to the related area of knowledge;
6) Ensure that any scientific information not used in this journal is not used without the consent of the authors;
7) Any questions relating to editorial misconduct should follow COPE guidelines and publish clarifications and/or retractions when necessary; in addition, ensure the autonomy of editorial decisions;
8) Ensure the maintenance of good editorial practices, detecting plagiarism, arbitrating conflicts of interest, inhibiting unethical experiments on humans or animals, publication redundancy and denouncing intellectual and scientific appropriation. The editor-in-chief will take all necessary measures recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Scientific Committee (ad hoc):
1) Notify the editor-in-chief and section editor by e-mail of their availability to review the scientific paper submitted and when they do not feel they are qualified to carry out the evaluation, refuse the invitation;
2) Refuse the invitation if the authors are identified and there are conflicts of interest;
3) Protect intellectual property, keeping information confidential and not using it for personal gain, including in their scientific work;
4) Based on the form submitted, the reviewer must follow ethical principles such as impersonality, reasonableness and violation of the rights to life;
5) If the reviewer identifies potential conflicts of interest with the author(s) of a scientific paper received, he/she must abstain from the evaluation and notify the editor-in-chief of the journal by e-mail;
6) Draw up an opinion based on good editorial practices with regard to ethics, impersonality, reasonableness and respect for human rights.
Authors:
1) Read all of RIMA's policies and regulations, as shown on this website. In addition, they must prepare the research paper in a coherent manner, addressing the areas of knowledge outlined;
2) The scientific work submitted must be original and it is forbidden to submit it simultaneously to another journal;
3) When dealing with animal or human experiments, authors must comply with the requirements of Resolution 466, of December 12, 2012, of the National Health Council/Brazil (available at: http://conselho.saude.gov.br/resolucoes/2012/Reso466.pdf, including proof of acceptance;
4) Avoid actions that constitute plagiarism, identifying all third-party sources;
5) Submit with the scientific paper all the declarations indicated on the website, if you forget any of the requirements they will not be accepted for publication. In addition, make sure that the scientific article has not been published in another journal, and if it is a translation of an international publication, this information must appear on the first page of the article;
6) In the declaration of authorship rights, the main author must highlight the contribution of all participating authors;
7) Maintain communication with the editor, establish a consensus among all the authors on the final version of the work and comply with any changes suggested by the editors and reviewers.
PROCEDURES IN CASES OF OMISSION:
